BARCELONA FACE DEFENSIVE OVERHAUL WITH €60 MILLION TRANSFER BUDGET

New contracts, Lionel Messi's salary increase and a breakdown in negotiations over a new shirt sponsor mean that the Spanish champions can't sign a number of world-class players
Barcelona face a difficult summer as they look to overhaul their defence with a €60 million transfer budget.
Goal understands Javier Mascherano and Dani Alves have both agreed to join Juventus and although there is a reluctance in allowing the Argentina international to leave Camp Nou, the Spanish champions may need to sell in order to raise funds for new players.
Barcelona’s priority is to improve their ageing defence but new deals for Neymar and Sergio Busquets, along with Lionel Messi’s salary increase from €22 million to €42m, mean that the club are not in a position to sign several ready-made players.
